Are you totally happy with your lifestyle right now? Do you have the house you like, in the area you like? Does your work fulfill you? Are you happy with your relationship? Do you take the vacations you like?
If so, well done you!
If not, then lifestyle design is for you. The focus of lifestyle design, as the name suggests, is to put time and effort into creating the lifestyle that you want, no matter what that may entail.
What Have You Got Versus What Do You Want?
The first step in lifestyle design involves an open and honest examination of your lifestyle right now. What aspects of your life do you like? What are you happy with? What would you like to keep?
On the flipside, what would you like to change? I’m not just talking material things like owning a Ferrari or giant house but also other, arguably more important aspects of your life. Where would you like to live? What job would you like to have? What would you like to achieve? What would you like to learn?
This lifestyle design process is key if you are going to be able to make positive changes that will create a happier, more fulfilling and enjoyable life for you and your family.
Mapping Out Your Lifestyle Design Journey
Once you know what you’d like to achieve, and where you’re starting from, the next step is a process often called “dreamlining” where you consider how you’re going to achieve those goals and dreams of yours.
For example if you currently work in a supermarket but you really want to be working as a doctor, what do you have to do to get there and what resources will you need? What are the steps you will have to go through?
If you are already working as a doctor but would rather be running your own internet business, what would this business be about? What skills will you have to acquire in order to be successful?
This, to me, is an exciting process. What could possibly be more invigorating than imagining your perfect lifestyle and then putting a plan into place to achieve it?
Having The Confidence To Start The Journey
Things never work out *quite* as we would hope but the key step here in lifestyle design is that once you have a plan, you need to start working on it. You need to take action.
Many people have dreams they would like to achieve, but do nothing about them. The person who is serious about lifestyle design, and the person who eventually achieves their goals, is the one who takes the bull by the horns and really takes concerted action to make their dreams a reality. You need to become that person.
If you take the time to work on your plan then you have the ability to really change your lifestyle for the better. Enjoy the journey – it’s going to be one heck of a ride!
